Pregnancy Announcements: Do They Trigger You?

We read all your comments and DMs across all our social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Tik Tok) and reviewed the poll from our Instagram story yesterday. We tallied up all your responses and categorized them into a few categories.

“Yes” and “No” are face value - Yes, I get triggered; No, I do not get triggered.

"Depends how" means it depends how I was told about the pregnancy. Was it in-person or via text (text was generally preferred)? Was it in a public setting? Was I told in a group? Was it an announcement on social media or through a greeting card? Was it right after I shared that my transfer had failed (Yes, this actually happened to someone😩)?

"Depends who" means it depends on my relationship with the person. Some people shared that if it was a family member, close friend, or someone else experiencing infertility they felt less triggered by it.

"Everything triggers me" means that pregnancy announcements are not the only trigger source for me. People shared that they feel no more triggered from a pregnancy announcement, an ad for a stroller or just being around children. A few people said even that the a birth announcement was more painful than the pregnancy announcement.

"I can feel happy for you and triggered at the same time" means that I am able to genuinely be happy for this person's pregnancy, but I also feel strongly triggered and saddened for my own situation.
